Cairo bourse hits 4-week high on foreign buying

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange’s benchmark index ended Wednesday in the green territory after gaining 65.4 points, 0.8%, to 8,198.5 points.

By this closing, the index registered the highest closing since 6 September 2016 backed by foreign investor’s buying appetite.

The largest EGX30 constituent was placed at EGP 50.6 with a 2.2% rise, recording a trading value of EGP 69 million.

On the positive note, the small and mid-cap index edged up 0.13% to 352.14 points and the broader index EGX100 was higher 0.41% to 799 points.

Meanwhile, the equal-weighted index EGX50 was lower 0.33% to 1,341.66 points.

Trading value reached EGP 671.7 million after 158.8 million shares were traded.

Market capitalization added EGP 1.1 billion to reach EGP 413.1 billion.

Foreign traders were net buyers by EGP 122.3 million, while Egyptians and Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 99.1 million and EGP 23.1 million, respectively.

The top gainers were led by Delta Construction by +6.4%, while Unipack was the worst performer by -8.7%.

The trading activity will be suspended tomorrow on the anniversary of the 6th October victory.
