Cairo bourse nears 7,500pts in early trade

Cairo – Mubasher: EGX indices saw a rise in Sunday’s early trading stimulated by Saudi king’s visit to Egypt, said analysts.

At 11:10am Cairo time, the benchmark opened 0.28% higher to 7,499 points powered by the purchases of Arab investors.

The equal-weighted index rose 1.35% to 1,422 points. The small and mid-cap went up by 0.73% to 363 points. The broader index was 0.40% up to 779.9 points.

With 57 million shares changing hands in 7,000 transactions, trading value reached EGP163 million.

Arab investors were net buyers by EGP4.3 million, while national and foreign investors were net sellers by EGP1.01 million and EGP3.3 million respectively.

The top gainers were Egyptian Iron and Steel, Beltone Financial, and Egypt Gas by 12.34%, 9.96%, and 5.24% correspondingly.

Meanwhile, the top losers were ADIB and North Africa Company for Real Estate Investment by 2.34% and 1.38%.

Analysts expected EGX to give a better performance than last week’s after Egypt’s institutional liquidly ratios have been flourished on King Salman’s visit.
