Cairo bourse opens higher on local buying

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange initiated the mid-week trading session on a positive note.

By 10:25am Cairo time, the main index EGX30 gained 31 points, 0.40%, to reach 7,961 points on local buying appetite.

The small and mid-cap index rose by 0.08% to 362.6 points.

Likewise, the broader index EGX100 was 0.16% higher to 782.2 points and the equal-weighted index EGX50 increased by 0.56% to 1,372.9 points.

National and foreign investors were net buyers by EGP 4.9 million and EGP 377,000 respectively, while Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 5.3 million.

Trading value reached EGP 66.7 million after 23.8 million shares were traded by 10:30am Cairo time.

Out of 77 traded stocks, 38 were up, 10 down, and 29 flat.

Palm Hills was the most active stock in terms of volume and value after 7.2 million shares were traded in 326 transactions at EGP 18.8 million.

Analysts expected EGX indices to give a sideways performance amid the government’s negotiations for a $12 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund.
