Cairo bourse pares early losses on periodic review

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) narrowed losses witness in early trading on Tuesday after issuing its periodic review of EGX indices.

The benchmark index EGX30 cut losses to 141.66 points or to 1.09% to stand at 12,861.13 points by 12:35pm Cairo local time (CLT).  

The small and mid-cap rebounded, rising 0.33% to 474.91 points. The broader index EGX100 was 0.01% higher to 1,156.73 points.

Meanwhile, the equal-weighted index EGX50 lowered 0.71% to 1,956.16 points.

Trading volumes stood at 173.2 million shares traded at EGP 685 million.

The Egyptian Exchange announced in its periodic review removing four companies out of and adding another four to the benchmark index EGX30, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.

The newly listed companies are Oriental Weaver, Juhayna, Sidi Kerir, and Crédit Agricole, while the bourse cancelled Egypt Kuwait Holding, Edita, Arabia Investments, Development and Financial Investment Holding and Elsaeed Contracting and Real Estate Investment Company.
