Cairo bourse rises for second straight week

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) rose for the second consecutive week, gaining EGP 15 billion during 8-12 January.

The benchmark index increased 3.12% or 399.6 points to 13,223.9 points.  

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 also closed 1.9% higher to 473.1 points.

Likewise, the broader index EGX100 moved up 3.71% to 1,154.37 points and the equal-weighted index EGX50 added 2.43% to 2,040.77 points.

Market capitalization added 14.9 billion to stand at EGP 629.7 billion.

Foreigners were net buyers by EGP 430.5 million, while nationals and Arabs were net sellers by EGP 414.98 million and EGP 15.5 million, respectively.

By category, institution recorded net purchases by EGP 15.5 million, while individuals were net sellers.

The largest EGX30 constituent CIB achieved EGP 456.4 million, ending the week higher 2.74% to EGP 75.84 per share.
