Cairo bourse sees losses in early trade

Cairo – Mubasher: EGX indices initiated Tuesday’s trading session on a negative note.

By 10:55am Cairo time, the main gauge lost 87 points, or 1.12% to reach the mark of 7,686.2 points.

The heaviest EGX30 stock, CIB, fell by 2.15% to EGP44.99 by 10:54am Cairo time.

The small and mid-cap EGX70 opened 0.46% down to 372.6 points. Likewise, the broader index EGX100 was 0.64% lower to 784.9 points. The equal-weighted EGX50 slipped by 1.18% to 1,427 points.

Trading value reached EGP127.1 million. Out of 105 stocks, 14 ones moved up; 53 went down; and 38 stayed at their previous levels.

Nationals and Arab investors were net sellers by EGP2.6 million and EGP2.7 million respectively, while foreign investors were net buyers by EGP5.4 million.

Earlier, analysts expected EGX to resume trading on a positive note backed by a possible higher demand after a span of official holidays.
