Cairo bourse up 1% in early trade


Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange initiated Tuesday’s trading session on a positive note.

At 10:30am Cairo time, the main index EGX30 rose 0.99% to 7,568 points. Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 opened up 0.90% to 1,375 points. The small and mid-cap EGX70 notched up by 0.44% to 362 points. And the broader index egx100 increased by 0.46% to 785 points.

Trading value stood at EGP178 million after 106 million shares were traded over 5,000 transactions at 10:30am Cairo time.

Arab investors were net buyers by EGP10.2 million, while national and foreign investors were net sellers by EGP10 million and EGP196,000 respectively.

Arabian Food Industries (Domty) led the top gainers on debut with a rise of 10.87%, followed by Union National Bank – Egypt (+10%) and Egyptian International Tourism Projects (+8.52%).

Meanwhile, the negative front was headed by Egyptian Starch & Glucose (-5.24%), Porto Group (-2.86%), and ALICO (-1.27%).
