Cairo bourse up 1.8% in early trade


Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Stock Exchange started Sunday’s trading session on a positive note.

At 10:20 am Egypt time, the benchmark EGX30 added 112 points, or 1.8%, to reach 6,201 points.

Likewise, the small and mid-cap EGX70 opened the session higher 0.46% to 353.8 points. The broader index rose 0.64% to 728.7 points. The equal-weighted index EGX50 also increased 1.29% to 1,179 points.

The blue-chip stocks as well opened in the green zone, led by CIB that notched up 2.6% to EGP 34.06, trading its stocks at a turnover of EGP 2.14 million at 10:14 am.

At 10:20 Egypt time, trading value reached EGP 1.8 million.

Tracking stocks exchanged, the bourse saw 12 stocks go up; one stock move down; and 19 unchanged.

Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers by EGP 357,000 and 49,000 respectively, while Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 406,000.

The top gainers of Sunday’s opening were Ceramic & Porcelain, Gharbia Islamic Housing Development, Marsa Alam for Tourism Development, Maridive and Oil Services, Talaat Moustafa Group with a rise ranging from 3.5% to 6%.

Meanwhile, the worst losers were headed by Egyptian Gulf Bank as it fell 0.75%
