Canada’s SNC-Lavalin to launch 3 substations in Meydan One

Dubai – Mubasher: Canada’s SNC-Lavalin has been awarded a contract to provide engineering and procurement services for the Meydan Group’s $90 million Mahra, Jeyad, and Forsan 132/11 kilovolts (kVs) substations in Dubai.

Under the contract, SNC-Lavalin design and deliver the three gas insulated switchgear (GIS) substations, including the civil design and delivery of three-, two-storey buildings, electrical equipment, and electro-mechanical works, according to a company statement.

“SNC-Lavalin has considerable experience in delivering substations, with over 2,500 completed around the world over the last 100 years, and we’re proud to be using that experience to successfully and safely deliver this project,” president of clean power division at SNC-Lavalin Marie-Claude Dumas said.

“The Mahra, Jeyad, and Forsan substations are a key part of this exciting development, helping to form the backbone of the electrical infrastructure that will address growth demand in the new Meydan One development,” Dumas noted.

Meydan One is a new destination in Dubai that will house 83,000 people, where substations will form the key component of the electrical infrastructure of the development.
