Careem appoints new CEO in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: The ride-hailing app Careem announced the appointment of Wael Abo El-Ela as new the CEO of Careem Egypt, succeeding Ramy Kato.

Under the leadership of Kato, investments in Careem rose to more than $30 million and the number of drivers, drivers, known as “captains”, exceeded 200,000 in the Egyptian market, the UAE-based company said in a statement.

Moreover, the Egyptian arm extended its business geographically in the North African country to include 14 cities, according to the statement.

Abo El-Ela was graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, in 1995. He has a master degree in telecom engineering, as well as a business administration master.
