Riyadh - Mubasher: The CEO of Careem, Abdullah Elias, said that company will open the door for Saudi women to work for the company in the kingdom.
Elias added in an interview with Alarabiya that the company is ready to instantly register women employees, after the successes it had in both Egypt and the UAE, noting that this will help in creating around 100,000 work opportunities for Saudi women.
On Tuesday, King Salman of Saudi Arabia issued a decree allowing women to drive for the first time in the history of the kingdom.
Women represent around 70% of Careem’s clients, the CEO indicated, adding that the company has special services for women passengers in around 13 countries in the region.
Elias also pointed that the decision will help in revitalising the Saudi economy, as it will allow more women to contribute to the gross domestic product (GDP) with more female entrepreneurs pursuing their work actively, adding that it will only push his company to provide better service in the Saudi market.
