Cement prices stable in July despite production growth – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Cement companies and plants in Egypt have maintained their maximum prices in July despite an increase in production and supply, said supply and internal trade minister on Saturday, according to a statement.

Prices for Suez Cement Group (which includes Portland Torah, Helwan Cement and Suez Cement Company) reached EGP 850 per tonne, while National Cement Company (NCC) stood at EGP 750 per tonne, said Khaled Hanafi.

Lafarge Cement kept their maximum prices at EGP 871 per tonne, while Misr Beni Sueif Cement kept theirs at EGP 760 per tonne, he added.

The minister indicated an increase in weekly cement production reaching 870,800 tonnes, up from a weekly average of 764,900 per week in June, according to the statement.

No cement has been exported in July compared to last month's exports of 1,890 tonnes, he stated.
