Cairo – Mubasher: Cement companies and factories in Egypt have maintained their maximum price limits for June, with the exception of the Spanish Egyptian Cement Factory (Spegyco), while production retreated during the month, said Khaled Hanafi, minister of supply and internal trade on Wednesday.
He added in a statement that Spegyco reduced its prices during the month by around EGP 60 to reach EGP 560 per tonne.
A decline in weekly production by around 764,900 tonnes has been noted compared to last month’s decline of 893,800 tonnes.
Local cement supplies fell to 1.67 million tonnes in June from 1.84 million tonnes the previous month, the statement said, adding that cement volumes sold in the locally retreated to 694,000 tonnes per week compared to 885,400 tonnes in May.
Exported cement volumes were down in June to 1,890 tonnes, from 5,000 tonnes the month before.
Tourah Portland Cement, Helwan Cement and Suez Cement Company were among the companies that fixed their prices in June at EGP 850 per tonne, while National Cement fixed its price at EGP 750 per tonne, the statement revealed.
