Centamin’s Sukari gold output falls 15.5% in Q1

Cairo – Mubasher: Centamin plc announced that gold production from its Egypt flagship Sukari mine fell by 15.5% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of 2019.

Total gold output reached 116,180 ounces in the three-month period ended last March, versus 137,600 ounces in Q4-18, the Jersey-based gold miner said in a statement on Wednesday.

Year-on-year, the company’s gold output from the Sukari mine decreased by 6.5% from 124,290 ounces in Q1-18, Centamin added.

The cost of the gold production stood at $630 per ounce in Q1-19, versus $581 and $609 per ounce in Q1-18 and Q4-18, respectively, according to the statement.

It is worth noting that Centamin previously reported a 13% year-on-year decline in gold output from the Sukari mine in 2018 to 472,400 ounces from 544,658.
