Cairo – Mubasher: China invested a total of $7.2 billion in 1,736 projects in Egypt as of the end of 2018, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea, said.
The Asian giant ranked the 20th among the largest countries investing in the most populous Arab nation, Gamea added in a statement on Wednesday.
Over the first seven months of 2020, trade exchange between the two countries amounted to $5.2 billion, she revealed.
This came during a phone call between the trade minister and the Chinese ambassador in Cairo, Liao Liqiang.
The two sides explored the possible means to strengthen mutual economic cooperation and create “green channels” for transporting cargo between the two countries amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
