Cairo – Mubasher: The Alexandria Passengers Transportation Authority (APTA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China-based BYD Auto Co to build a monorail transit system in Egypt’s Alexandria, according to Alborsa News.
The 128-kilometre monorail will be implemented over eight phases by the build–operate–transfer (BOT) system, Chairman of APTA Khalid Khaled Eleiwa.
Both parties are currently preparing for feasibility studies, Eleiwa added.
On 11 October 2017, Egypt’s housing minister Mostafa Madbouli said that the ministry is working on the establishment of a monorail to link Nasr City with the New Administrative Capital.
