China’s Huajian Group to build industrial zone in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: China-based Huajian Group is looking at investing in the Egyptian market over the coming period, mainly in El  Roubiki Leather City, the Egyptian trade minister said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Chinese firm is also planning to build a full-fledged industrial zone in Egypt near any of the country’s international airports, Amr Nasssar added.

The anticipated zone will cover the industries of textiles, electronics, and household appliances, according to the statement.

This came on the sidelines of a meeting between the minister and a delegate from Huajian Group headed by the company’s chairman Zhang Huarong.

The group aims at expanding in the African continent through the Egyptian market, as well as in Europe through the free trade agreements signed between Egypt and the European Union’s (EU) members, Nassar highlighted.

For his part, Zhang Huarong has praised the Egyptian economy boosted by the reform programme, in addition to the major national projects implemented by the government such as the New Administrative Capital.
