Mubasher: Kuwait’s parliamentary Budgets and Final Accounts Committee and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) have discussed estimated expenditures for ministries and governmental authorities in fiscal year 2019/2020 draft budget.
Spending on commodities and services is estimated at KWD 3.4 billion in FY19/20 draft budget, with an 11% year-on-year rise, the chairman of the parliamentary Budgets and Final Accounts Committee said in a statement.
These allocations include the cost of operating power plants owned by the ministry of water and electricity, which will worth KWD 1.5 billion, Adnan Abdulsamad added.
He noted that the cost of fuel to operate the ministry of water and electricity’s plants is estimated at KWD 1.7 billion, along with allocating KWD 628 million for the ministry of health to repair medical equipment and labs, and KWD 391 million for the ministry of defence.
The FY19/20 draft budget has earmarked around KWD 631 million for financial aid, up 19% year-on-year, the statement said.
Meanwhile, grants for state-run authorities, independent institutions, and international organisations are estimated at KWD 5.2 billion.
The Kuwaiti committee also allocated KWD 1.2 billion as other outlays, including the item of scholarships which will cost KWD 509 million in the country and abroad, in addition to earmarking KWD 275 million for jurisdiction affairs.
