Cairo – Mubasher: A consortium of three companies has been awarded a contract for a $176 million project to build Egypt’s first dry port, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
The consortium includes Elsewedy Electric Co, 3A International, and DB Schenker Egypt, Egyptian transport minister Kamel al-Wazir stated.
The construction of the 100-feddan project will start on 1 February 2020 and last for two years, al-Wazir added.
The minister revealed that the new port will have the capacity to handle 720,000 containers annually and create 3,500 jobs.
