Cairo – Mubasher: The cost of comprehensive social protection measures, announced by the Egyptian government in July 2019, exceeded EGP 60 billion, the finance minister Mohamed Maait said.
The measures include raising the minimum wage for state employees and pensions as well as increasing the number of beneficiaries from 'Takaful and Karama' initiative, Maait added in a statement released by the cabinet on Tuesday.
Moreover, the minister revealed that government investments during the July-December period of 2019 amounted to EGP 64 billion, including EGP 56 billion worth of investments financed by the state treasury.
