Credit in Kuwaiti banks grows 3.1% in September – KFH

Mubasher: The growth of total credit granted by the banking sector in Kuwait scored 3.1% in September 2017, Kuwait Finance House (KFH) said in a report, according to the latest data disclosed by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK).

The credit growth rate in September 2017 is ranked the fifth during the period from September 2012 until September 2017, KFH added.

Local banking credit in September reached KWD 35.8 billion ($118.9 billion) in September 2017 compared to KWD 34.8 billion ($115.6 billion) in the same month in 2016.

On a monthly basis, the credit granted by Kuwait banks in September marginally rose when compared to August, KFH’s report said.

Credit facilities allocated to the industrial segment, the non-banks financial institutional sector, and the real estate and construction segment declined by 11.8%, 4.1%, and 0.6%, respectively.
