Cyberattacks cost UAE residents AED 3.9bn in 2017

Dubai – Mubasher: Hackers have stolen AED 3.86 billion from 3.72 million internet users in the UAE during 2017, according to a report released by Norton Cybersecurity on Tuesday.

About 52% of the UAE's adult internet users have been subjected to cyberattacks, the report found.

Owners of personal computer (PC) and game consoles users are among the most attacked segment in the UAE, Norton commented.

Despite their experience and interest in modern technology, millennials were more likely to be victims of hacking, as 20% of millennial respondents admit they did not install any protection software in their devices, the report concluded.
