DED instructs social media-based traders to obtain licence

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi’s Department of Economic Development (DED) announced that it ordered persons operating in e-commerce through the social media to commence the required procedures to obtain licences to conduct their activities.

The department will begin a survey during the next six months to detect any unlicensed social media-based trade activities, according to Emarat Al Youm newspaper.  

Following the completion of the survey the DED will impose penalties on violators, with fines range between AED 40,000 and AED 100,000, Emarat Al Youm reported.
