DEWA awards AED260m contract for water transmission network

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded a AED260 million contract for the project to supply, lay and commission a 46km water transmission network in Dubai.

It said that the project is expected to be completed in 28 months, according to WAM.

"DEWA is always seeking to raise its production and operational capacity and increase water flow to meet the increasing growth of the demand for water all over Dubai at all times to contribute to driving sustainable development and providing the different requirements to achieve our plans," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

The project includes laying Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) water pipes with different diameters between Dubai Academic City Road and Dubai Bypass Road and the Emirates Road, and from the Emirates Road along Jebel Ali-Al Hebab reaching Al Qudra Road. Also, a main pipeline will be extended from Al Lussaily reservoir to the intersection of Al Ain Road and Jebel Ali-Al Hebab, in addition to other pipelines from Mushrif Station to Al Warqa’a, and along Al Khaleej Road. This project will provide water through gravity in emergencies to various areas, and to provide Al Reem Area, and the future projects on both sides of Al Qudra Road, and other developments with water.
