DEWA inks AED 193m deal with US GE

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed an AED 192.7 million agreement with US-based General Electric (GE) to extend the lifetime of the American firm’s 9E gas turbines at E station at the Jebel Ali Power and Desalination Complex.

Work at the project is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2019 and end in the first quarter of 2021, DEWA said in a statement.

This deal includes Advanced Gas Path (AGP) techniques and applications for reducing nitrogen oxides, DLN1, Dubai's state-run utility highlighted.

Upon this agreement, the project will be executed from 2019 to 2021, as necessary improvements will be conducted to extend the life cycle of the gas turbines for a 12-year additional period, increase production, enhance efficiency, and diminish emissions from these turbines.

Jebel Ali power complex has three GE 9E gas turbines at E Station, which were installed in 1989 as the first large gas turbines.
