DFM celebrates Emirati Women’s day

Dubai - Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) on Wednesday has held a special ceremony to celebrate the Emirati Women’s Day to honour the remarkable achievements and contribution of female employees to the exchange.

The ceremony was attended by the DFM’s chief operations officer (COO) and head of clearing, settlement, and depository division (CSD) Maryam Fekri and the executive vice president and head of business development division Fahima Al Bastaki, according to a press release.

Members of the DFM Women Council have also attended the ceremony, the release added.

It is worth noting that the number of Emirati female investors in the DFM has reached 191,467, accounting for 22.6% of total 844,000 investors.

Moreover, the UAE female investors currently hold 3.3 billion shares on DFM-listed companies with a total value of AED 8 billion, the release noted.

They also carried out transactions on the DFM with a total value of AED 3.1 billion since the beginning of the year until 21 August.

In 2015, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak - Mother of the UAE - launched the Emirati Women's Day to celebrate the role of women in the country.
