DFM declines at open on leading stocks

Dubai-Mubasher: Dubai Financial Market (DFM) saw a negative performance in Monday’s early trades, weighed by the blue-chip stocks of Arabtec Holding, Emaar Properties, Dubai Islamic Bank, Dubai Investments and du.

The general index declined 0.97% or 30.37 points to reach 3,104.6 points by 11:10am UAE time.

The UAE markets are expected to see a negative performance in the short-term, amid the absence of catalysts and a state of anxiety that is controlling investors, analysts previously told Mubasher.

The services sector led losers after falling 2.4% as Tabreed lost 3.36%.

The investment sector retreated 1.72% as Dubai Investments and DFM Company dropped 1.5% and 2.5%, respectively.

The real estate sector decreased 1.43% due to a decline in Arabtec and Emaat by 2.34% and 1.07% in a row.

The banks sector lost 0.52% as Dubai Islamic Bank slumped 1.15%, while Emirates NBD rose 1.3%.

The telecom sector went down 0.98% after du slid 0.98% to AED 5.05.

The market saw trading of 98.5 million shares through 1,500 transactions, with turnover of AED 93.36 million.
