DFM ends 1st session of 2019 in red

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) closed Wednesday, the first trading session of 2019, on a negative note.

The DFMGI shed 0.36% or 9.22 points to close at 2,520.53 points. Turnover decreased to AED 109.93 million from AED 169.75 million on Monday, while volumes fell to 117.35 million shares from 176.35 million.

The services and transport sectors led losers, declining 1.87% and 1.51%, respectively, weighed by Amanat’s 4.35% drop and Aramex, which fell 4.43%.

The investment sector was down 0.83% after SHUAA and Dubai Investments lost 3.54% and 0.8%, respectively.

The real estate sector decreased 0.45% after Emaar Properties, DAMAC Properties, and Emaar Development sank 1.21%, 0.66%, and 0.23%, respectively, while the banks sector slipped 0.13% as Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) shed 0.4%.

On the positive side, the insurance sector increased 1.2% after Takaful Emarat, Salama Insurance, and Aman Insurance gained 3.05%, 2.49%, and 1.8%, respectively.
