DFM ends Sunday lower; trading activity rises

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) closed Sunday in the red, its second decline in a row.

The general index shed 0.29% or 8.14 points to close at 2,817.72 points.

Turnover grew to AED 227.03 million from AED 189.047 million on Thursday, while traded volume increased to 209.89 million shares from 144.16 million.

The investment sector led fallers, losing 1.24% after SHUAA Capital, Dubai Investments, and the DFM Company retreated 1.48%, 1.23%, and 1.21%, respectively.

The consumer staples sector decreased 0.76% after DXB lost 0.84%.

Meanwhile, the real estate sector declined 0.67%, weighed by Arabtec Holding's 3.85% plunge, while DAMAC Properties, Emaar Properties, and Drake & Scull International (DSI) fell 1.41%, 0.77%, and 0.51%, respectively. In addition, Emaar Development and Deyaar tumbled 0.40% and 0.23%, respectively.

On the other hand, the banks sector was the sole riser, edging 0.12% higher after Emirates NBD gained 0.88%, while GFH Group increased 0.79% and Al Salam Bank Bahrain added 0.23%.
