DFM ends Thursday down on higher sales

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) ended Thursday’s trading session in negative territory due to sale-off pressures on blue-chip stocks.

The general index fell 34.31 points, or 1.35%, to end the last session of the week at 2,509.81 points.

The DFM’s traded volume stood at 175.27 million shares on Thursday, compared to 101.95 million shares on Wednesday, while liquidity rose to AED 194.08 million, against AED 131.55 million in the previous session.

The consumer staples sector topped the decliners losing 5.23% after DXB Entertainment plunged 5.9%, while the transportation sector retreated 2.48% as Gulf Navigation dropped 6.09%.

Similarly, the real estate sector decreased by 1.4% as DAMAC Properties fell 9.88%, followed by the services sector with 1.22%.
