DFM rises on Arabtec, Emaar Tuesday

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) saw a positive performance on Tuesday, backed by the rise of blue chips led by Emaar Properties and Arabtec Holding.

The general index rose 0.43% or 14.57 points to reach 3,441.85 points.

The real estate sector topped gainers with a 0.74% rise as Emaar and Arabtec increased 1.7% and 1.02%, respectively.

The transportation sector went up 0.47% as Air Arabia added 0.9%. The banks sector climbed 0.13% after Emirates NBD grew 1.12%.

Some portfolio investors tended to increase their positions in blue chips, pushing the market to rise on Tuesday, capital market analyst Gamal Abdel Hamid said.

Trading volume reached 581.42 million shares on Tuesday, compared to 494.92 million shares on Monday. Turnover amounted to AED 527.3 million, compared to AED 568.16 million.

The market is expected to rise on Wednesday and approach 3,415 points, Abdel Hamid added.
