Dubai - Mubasher: Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts has ruled against the owner of the Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai hotel preventing Viceroy Hotels and Resorts from managing and operating the hotel.
The court order prohibits Kabir Mulchandani, the owner of the Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai hotel, from taking any actions that prevents the company from exercising its exclusive authority to manage and operate the hotel, according to a statement.
Viceroy previously filed a law suit to the DIFC Courts, after the owner of the hotel announced on Monday 19 June that Five Hotels and Resorts a subsidiary of Five Holdings and a company of his own, has taken over the management of the hotel. It also tried rebranding the hotel and replacing the original Viceroy brand.
The wrong actions taken by the hotel owner were against the current management agreement, the statement indicated.
The CEO of Viceroy Hotel Group, Bill Walshe, said that the court order requires, among other things, that Viceroy’s name and branding be reinstated at the hotel.
