DIFC to host ‘Future of Finance’ conference between 2020, 2021

UAE – Mubasher: The Middle East, Africa, and South Asia’s ( MEASA) top international financial hub, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), concluded an agreement to host the region’s leading finance conference at the Dubai Exhibition Centre during Expo 2020 Dubai which will occur between 20 October 2020 and 10 April 2021.

Under the theme of 'The Future of Finance', the two-day conference will gather global leaders and business commentators as well as international and local sector changemakers, with the aim to discuss the latest financial sector trends, revealing business growth opportunities and prosperity for millions of people, said a press release on Tuesday.

Moreover, the event will bring together leading Islamic Finance experts as well as speakers from the philanthropic sector, pioneering FinTech entrepreneurs, and start-ups.

The MEASA region is currently seeing strong growth, being home to a population of three billion across 72 countries with a nominal GDP of $7.7 trillion. The landmark event will further offer collaboration opportunities between sector experts and deliver solutions to financial challenges.

Under the overarching theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, the conference will tap into other topics, including the Government of Dubai’s innovation agenda, latest economic sector developments, along with DIFC’s vision of transforming the financial landscape and the Centre’s role in transforming the MEASA financial ecosystem while fostering creativity and collaboration.

“There is a robust link between innovation and growth. A key factor propelling economic development in the region is technological innovation which has created new value propositions, attracted new global investment and generated a diversification of sector opportunities. Therefore, it is no surprise that the region is significantly shaping financial innovation,” said the CEO of DIFC Authority, Arif Amiri.

Meanwhile, executive director of the Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, commented, “Expo 2020 will welcome 192 participating countries and millions of visitors from across the globe to the UAE. We aspire to create a meaningful legacy that will benefit generations to come, both locally and globally, spanning everything from innovation, culture and architecture, to networking and business opportunities.”

It is worthwhile to mention that Dubai is the seventh global Fintech location for economic potential, succeeding to assist and accelerate sustainable economic growth similar to other key financial hubs such as London, New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
