Dubai – Mubasher: DP World has opened a new terminal to offload empty containers at the Jebel Ali port, Al Khaleej newspaper reported.
The new terminal will help boost traffic in the internal roads at the port as well as reduce the amount of time needed to transfer containers, DP World said, according to the newspaper.
The new offloading area is located in the Jebel Ali port near to Al Maktoum International Airport, the newspaper added.
Handling volumes at the Jebel Ali port rose 5.7% in the first quarter of 2017 to reach 16.4 million containers.
DP world plans to expand in the South American and Russian markets during 2017, group chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem said at an earlier time.
