Dubai – Mubasher: Unifeeder, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DP World, will acquire three business units of Transworld Group, a shipping and logistics company in India, according to a press release on Wednesday.
The business units include Transworld Feeders FZCO and Avana Logistek Limited including its subsidiary Avana Global FZCO, which are non-vessel operating common carriers operators.
Both units offer container feedering services and regional trade solutions across various ports in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and the Far East.
Under the acquisition, the units will enable Unifeeder to provide multiple India-focused solutions and will continue to run an asset-light structure as per the Unifeeder model.
Previously, DP World acquired Feedertech and Perma Shipping, which have a strong market position in the trade routes towards the east of the Indian Subcontinent.
The Chairman of Transworld Group and Shreyas Shipping and Logistics Limited, Ramesh S. Ramakrishnan, said: "The acquisition of three of our portfolio companies will provide DP World and Unifeeder ISC a robust platform to jointly deliver a more complete range of solutions to our customers."
The Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, remarked: "Transworld Feeders and Avana are both strong and well-known brands that handle approximately 1.2mn TEU per annum and operate in fast-growing markets."
