Dubai – Mubasher: DP World is considering expansion into Latin America, capitalising on its successful experience in managing and operating key ports in this promising market over the last ten years, said DP World Group chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem.
The world's third-largest ports operator is now working on completing Guayaquil Port in Ecuador with a total investment worth $1.2 billion, he added.
The Dubai-based port operator has already started land reclamation, digging and road network works of Ecuador’s new port, the CEO said on the sidelines of the Global Business Forum on Latin America, giving no further details on the schedule of the project.
Ecuador will have the first deep-water port, which enables it to receive mega vessels that in return would enhance the trade in the Latin America country, bin Sulayem added.
