DP World unit acquires Spanish Reyser

Dubai – Mubasher: P&O Maritime, fully owned by DP World, has acquired the Spanish Reyser (Remolques y Servicios Maritimos, S.L.).

The Spanish company provides maritime services internationally since 1966 and is affiliated to Bergé y Cía, S.A. company, according to a statement published on DP World website on Thursday.

The mother company noted that deal value is below 5% of DP World’s net asset value.

Moreover, Reyser has long-term agreements in 10 Spanish ports and contracts with two international Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminals at Saint John, New Brunswick in Canada and Point Fortin in Trinidad and Tobago.

The company also provide harbour towage, mooring, bunkering, diving, and environmental support services.

Reyser owns 151 vessels, including 20 tugboats, 53 mooring boats, five bunkering vessels, and 73 ships conducting environmental work, the statement said.

“We are delighted to make this acquisition which underlines the further development of the group’s maritime services business. As a global trade enabler, we have been developing it globally spearheaded by the world renowned P&O Maritime brand to complement our core business of ports and terminals,” DP World chairman, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, said.

Sulayem highlighted that the deal is a part of the company’s broader strategy to grow complementary sectors in the global supply chain, such as industrial parks, free zones, and logistics, supported by new technologies.
