DWC sees higher passenger traffic in H1-16

Mubasher: Passenger traffic at Dubai World Central (DWC) rose by 95.4% in the first half of 2016, backed by flydubai’s operations, according to the traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports.

Around 410,278 passengers passed through the concourses of DWC in H1-16, compared to 209,989 passengers recorded during the same half of 2015.

The growth of passenger traffic at DWC is mainly attributed to flydubai which operates 35 weekly flights to five destinations from DWC, in addition to its operations at Dubai International’s Terminal 2.

Flydubai will increase its weekly flights from DWC for the upcoming winter schedule.

Higher passenger operations at DWC contributed to aircraft movements which reached 18,126 in H1-16, a rise of 4.8% to 17,302 movements recorded in H1-15.

Freight volumes at DWC declined 2.9% to 430,132 tonnes in H1-16 from 443,011 tonnes in H1-15.
