Dubai-Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) announced the installation and launching of the main 400 kilovolt (kV) power transformer, as well as a number of other projects worth AED 197 million at the Hassyan clean coal power plant, according to a statement.
The coal power plant will generate 2,400 megawatts (MW), the statement said, adding that the project is scheduled for operational opening in March 2023.
"This project supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy, which aims to provide 7% of Dubai’s energy from clean energy sources by 2020," according to Dewa managing director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.
