Dubai – Mubasher: Digital health startups have raised around $11.5 billion last year, with a 27% increase from a year earlier, Arab Health, the largest exhibition for healthcare and trade professionals in the MENA region, said in a report on Monday.
The report titled “Technology: Accelerating Innovation Across Healthcare” highlighted the key participation of tech startups in boosting the healthcare sector, especially technology-enabled care models and personalised medicine.
The report further revealed the major positive role of 3D printing, drones, wearable technologies, Virtual Reality (VR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in improving the industry.
“Over the years, we have seen growing interest in new products and innovations that will contribute to shaping the future of healthcare. Hospitals, medical device manufacturers and service providers across the globe are facing increasing pressure to innovate in order to become competitive,” the exhibition director Ross Williams stated.
There’s a dire need of making a shift towards preventative methods as an alternative to curative medicine, Thom Soutter, the directorof Business Development at Synapse Medical Services, said.
He added that “healthy lifestyle apps, telehealth and patient engagement through technology will be the key.”
Arab Health will collaborate with the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Department of Health Abu Dhabi and SEHA, Arab Health to organise the 44th Arab Health Exhibition and Congress from 28 – 31 January 2019 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
