Du to invest AED 1.6bn in infrastructure development

Dubai – Mubasher: Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (DU) plans to invest around AED 1.6 billion in infrastructure projects this year, the CEO of the telecoms provider said.

These investments involve building fifth generation (5G) networks, Osman Sultan added.

The 5G networks will be available in various locations, including Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Al Khaleej newspaper cited the top official.

By the end of 2019, DU expects 5G-enabled stations to reach 1,000, Al Khaleej said.

During the first quarter of 2019, the Emirati telecommunication provider’s profits tumbled 14.2% to AED 444.81 million, from AED 518.51 million in Q1-18.
