Dubai – Mubasher: The value of Dubai’s exports to countries in East Africa reached AED 17.2 billion in 2016, according to a study by the Dubai Chamber.
Re-exports amounted to AED 13.5 billion of the total value, while direct exports stood at AED 3.7 billion.
Tanzania topped Dubai’s export destinations in East Africa in 2016 in terms of value with AED 3.61 billion, followed by Kenya with AED 3.43 billion, and Somalia with AED 2.34 billion.
Dubai’s exports to Mozambique grew 202% annually, with a focus on mineral products, mobile phones, and plastic.
Madagascar ranked second in terms of annual value growth with 68%, as imports to the country from Dubai amounted to AED 337.2 million. Main imports included mineral products, electronic devices, and transport equipment.
Dubai’s exports to Seychelles grew 59% annually to reach AED 329 million.
