Mubasher: Dubai International Airport (DXB) showed that more than 43 million travelers have passed through its gate during the first half of 2018, partly a double-digit incline in passenger traffic in June, Dubai Airports announced on Wednesday.
The number of passengers in H1-18 totalled 43,739,105, representing an increase of 1.6% when compared to 43,054,268 in H1-17, as reported by the airport's operator.
In June, passenger traffic increased by 11.7% year-on-year to 6,795,492 travellers due to the impact of Islam's holy month of Ramadan season on passenger traffic in 2017.
Traffic from the CIS countries registered a growth of 50.6% in June, compared to Eastern Europe, Africa, and North America with 33.6%, 20%, and 16.9%, respectively.
In terms of passenger volume, India was the top destination with 968,931 passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia with 504,968, the UK with 454,477, while Pakistan and the US with 349,633 and 291,391, respectively.
Flight movements in June rose 6.4% to 32,805 in June 2018 year-on-year from 30,841 in June 2017 this year.
In H1-18, flight movements were down 2% to 201,784, compared to 205,998 in the first six months of 2017.
The average number of passengers per flight during June 2018 stood at 213, compared to 203 during the same month in 2017, a year-on-year growth of 4.9%.
