Dubai Duty Free partially resumes operations

UAE - Mubasher: Dubai Duty Free (DDF) has partially reopened its stores at one of the terminals of the Dubai International Airport (DXB) after around three months of closure due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Since 25 March, the DDF has closed its stores at Dubai's airports following the suspension of flights at the UAE, according to a recent press release.

The DDF has taken all the precautionary measures upon reopening to ensure the safety of its employees and travellers, including the installation of plexiglass at points of sale and directional floor markings, the availability of sanitizers, and encouraging contactless payment.

Meanwhile, the free market has restarted its online shopping system to deliver orders to travellers at the departure hall.

Executive vice chairman and CEO, Colm McLoughlin, expects DDF to reopen at DXB's Terminal 2 later this week to serve other airlines.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) recently announced the resumption of passenger transportation and transit operations at the UAE's airports, as part of the country's measures to re-open businesses.
