Dubai – Mubasher: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE's vice president, prime minister, and Dubai's ruler, has earmarked AED 1.5 billion ($410 million) for establishing the first batch of a “new generation” of schools.
Bin Rashid also unveiled a plan to transform the Higher Colleges of Technology into economic zones, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
During a visit to educational institutions in Fujairah and Kalbaa in Sharjah, Dubai’s ruler also announced launching an AED 100 million fund to develop the career skills of 65,000 students in the hospitality, retail, oil and gas and logistics sectors.
“When people have doubts due to economic volatility, we accelerate development, and when they are afraid of the future, we further raise our commitment to build it. We have created a vision for our nation’s development over the next 50 years,” he added.
The new schools will include robotics, design, artificial intelligence (AI), healthcare, and environmental labs, as well as sports facilities.
Moreover, specialised technical academies will be established within colleges to help students who want to change their career paths.
