Dubai deputy ruler lays foundation stone for Dubai CommerCity

Dubai – Mubasher: Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the deputy ruler of Dubai, laid the foundation stone for Dubai CommerCity.

Spanning over 2.1 million square feet in the Umm Ramool area, the project is the first e-commerce free zone in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, according to a statement from Dubai Media Office.

Dubai CommerCity, a joint venture between the Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA) and wasl Asset Management Group, has a 170,000-square metre leasable area for the business cluster.

In addition, the rental areas for the logistics and social clusters are 53,000 and 10,000 square metres, respectively.  

Dubai CommerCity is part of a strategic initiative aiming to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to the e-commerce sector, the statement added.
