Dubai — Mubasher – The emirate of Dubai is likely to slow spending growth in the 2019 budget, with heavy infrastructure spending due to its preparations to host the Expo 2020 exhibition, the UAE’s vice president and prime minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said on Tuesday.
Dubai’s 2019 budget plan includes expenditures of AED 56.8 billion ($15.5 billion), slightly higher than the previous year’s original budget plan of AED 56.6 billion ($15.4 billion), up 19.5% from 2017, Gulf News reported.
The state revenues are expected to grow by 1.2% year-on-year to AED 51 billion ($13.9 billion) in 2019.
The six-month Expo 2020 Dubai will be held on 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021 and is expected to welcome more than 25 million visitors.
