Dubai - Mubasher: Tunnelling works for Route 2020 rail network reached 50%, Mattar Al Tayer, director-general of the emirate’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA), said.
With a total cost of $2.8 billion, rates of construction of Dubai's 15km-long Route 2020 rail network ranged from 4% to 42%, he added.
Tunneling works for the project sprawl 3.2 killometres, with depths varying from 12 to 36 metres, Al Tayer noted.
Architectural, construction and electro-mechanical designs are currently being developed for the Expo 2020 station, the top official said.
Over 60 viaduct segments had been installed in different parts of the project, while overall viaduct construction is expected to be finalised by November 2018, according to ConstructionWeek Online.
In the same vein, the project is forecast to be fully completed by July 2019, and the RTA will trail runs for the route in February 2020.
