Dubai hotel bookings witness 5.5% growth

Decypha – Cairo: The hospitality sector in Abu Dhabi witnessed a 5.5% increase in hotel guest in the first two months of 2017, Albawaba reported.

Approximately, 749,650 hotel guests checked into the Abu Dhabi’s 170 hotels and hotel apartments in January and February of this year, a 40,000-guest increase from same period last year, according to figures from Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA).

January saw an impressive 8% increase YoY guest arrivals with the top five visitors from the UAE, India, UK, China, and Saudi Arabia. February, on the other hand, recorded a 4% increase in guest arrivals compared to 2016, with leading visitors from China, India, UK, and USA.

“The first two months of this year has seen our key overseas markets continue to perform well, and we remain committed to expanding our outstanding tourism and cultural assets. With our year-round programme of events, we plan to gain further growth across the tourism sector and achieve our target of reaching 4.9 million hotel guests throughout the course of this year,” said Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director General, TCA Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi received more than 4.4 million hotel guests over the year 2016, an 8% increase from 2015 with a recorded 12,031,628 guest nights.
