Dubai hotels net $980m revenue in Q1

Dubai – Mubasher: Hotels in the emirate of Dubai have generated revenue worth a combined AED 3.59 billion ($980.3 million) in the first quarter of 2019, compared to AED 4 billion ($1.089 billion) in Q1-18, data by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) showed.

The number of guest nights in Dubai reached 8.63 million during the three-month period ended 31 March, while the average return on a hotel room hit AED 417, the DTCM highlighted.

The average price of a hotel room in the emirate stood at AED 4495 per night, data revealed.

Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors in Dubai reached 3.5 nights, according to the DTCM.

Earlier this month, the DTCM announced that Dubai welcomed around 4.75 million visitors in Q1-19, with a hotel occupancy rate of 84%.

The relevant authorities are keen on achieving Dubai Tourism Vision by attracting 20 million tourists and adding 36,000 rooms to the emirate’s hospitality portfolio to reach 140,000 rooms by 2020.
